Championship Series - Sept. 15, 22, 29

=======================================

Timberlake Summer Match Play Tournament

June 16 & 23

Format

Individual - flighted competition - single elimination.  For week 1 the entire field will be divided into 3 flights designated "A", "B" and "R" based tees played and points needed.  Each flight will be divided into groups of 4 players each again based on points needed (if there aren't enough players in a flight some groups may only have 3 players, determined by blind draw).  The player in each group of 4 who is the most positive for week 1 will advance to week 2 to play against the other group winners in his flight. The player who is most positive of these remaining players in week 2 will be the overall flight winner (if there are not enough group winners to fill the 4 man field for week two the most + of the remaining players in the flight will fill that position - tie breaker if needed = match of cards).   The 2nd place finishers in each group in week 1 (including ties) will play for a consolation prize in week 2.

Ties

In the event of a tie within a group after week 1 both or all players involved in the tie will advance to week 2.  In the event of a tie in week 2 the player who is most positive for the combined 2 weeks will be the flight winner. In the event that they are still tied they will have an 18 hole playoff  the following week to determine the flight winner.

Partners Tournament

May 5 & 12

 Timberlake Men's Golf Association - Partners Tournament 2025
This year's partners tournament will be held on May 5 & May 12. It will be a two man team event with partners chosen in a random draw with each team consisting of an "A" and a "B" player.

Entry Fee: $25.00 per player which includes both weeks and the closest to the pin contest each week.

Teams: Everyone who enters will be ranked from highest points needed to lowest points needed and then the list will be split in half. The top half = "A" players and the bottom half = "B" players. Each team will consist of an "A" and a "B" player determined as follows: each "B" player will pick his partner in a blind draw of "A" players.

Format of play:
     Week 1 (May 5): 18 holes captain's choice format. - explained below.
      Week 2 (May 12): 18 holes modified alternate shot format - explained below

    Add points made on week 2 to points from week 1 for total team points. Team with most positive points wins. (If two or more teams tie the tie breaker will be the team with the most positive points on Day 2,  2nd tie breaker if needed, match of cards day 2.

Points needed calculation:
The points needed for each team for week #1 will be the sum of A player's + ½ B player's points. The points needed for each team for week #2 will the sun of  ½ A + B players points.  The total point goal for both weeks of the tournament combined will therefore be 1.5 A + 1.5 B . There will be no adjustment  to any players points after the first week.

Qualifying and individual points needed:
Each individual player's points will be the average of the last six rounds played.  To qualify for the tournament he must have played at least 6 rounds.

Rain: If either week is rained out the rained out week  will be held the following week. For the purposes of the tournament the round will be a rain out if the entire field is not able to complete 14 holes for week 1 and all 18 holes for week #2. (Our pro-rating system will be used for wk#1 if necessary.)

Timbercup Points:  Timbercup points will be awarded as follows: Winning team = 100 pts each,
2nd = 75 points each, 3rd = 50 points each, 4th = 40,  5th = 30, 6th = 25, 7th = 20, 8th = 15, 9th = 10 pts each, 10th and lower one point less for each position down to a minimum of 5 points.
Substitutes: If one partner cannot play one week a substitute can be used as long as he has met the qualifying requirements. The points then needed will be calculated as stated above based on the substitutes points needed for the week he plays.  A substitute for an "A" player must be an "A" player and a substitute for a "B" player must be a "B" player.
Prize Money:  Will depend on the number of teams participating. The best team in wk1 and wk2 will receive $20 each. The payout for the whole tournament will be as in the following example is based on 17 teams: 1st = $50+ trophy each, 2nd = $40 each, 3rd = $35 each, 4th = $30 each, 5th = $25, 6th = $20 each.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alternate Shot Format: Both players hit the tee shot, they then decide which ball they want to play. The player whose ball was not chosen plays the next shot and then they alternate shots until the ball is holed.
Captains Choice Format: Both players hit the tee shot, they then decide which ball they want to play. Both players play from that position and repeat the process until the ball is holed.
Additional Notes:
1. If there is an odd number of players -  The  player  who has the least number of rounds YTD will be on standby.
2.  If more than 40 players sign up to play and we cannot get additional tee times the 40 players with the  most rounds YTD (since Sept. 2024) will make up the field  and the remaining players placed on standby.

Timberlake Championship Series 2025

Sept.  15, 22, 29, 2025

Three week, year end tournament to determine Champion Golfer of the Year, plus A, B & R Flight winners .   Our new season will start immediately after this tournament.

DETAILS

Timberlake Men's Golf Association Championship Series - 2024

The Timberlake Championship Series (TCS) will be played over three weeks - Sept. 15, 22, 29, with Oct.6 being a rain date if needed).

Everyone starts the TCS with zero points and then earns points each week according to where they finish in their flight. A player will recieve 10 points for each player he finishes ahead of (more +) in his flight.   These points will accumulate each week and the player with the most points in each flight after 3 weeks will be the flight winner for the TCS.

All ties will split points and prize money except ties for flight champion. Ties for flight champion will be settled by an 18 hole playoff the following week (most plus wins)

Details for the Timberlake Championship Series (TCS)

Eligibility: a player must have played at least 6 rounds during the regular season (between Oct. 1, 2024 and Sept 9, 2025).  Anyone not eligible for the TCS can still play during the 3 weeks of the TCS, if space is available, and be eligible for the weekly prizes (see below).

Points needed: Each players points needed will be calculated each week just like during the regular season - average of the last six rounds, adjusted if necessary by the sandbagger rule.

Flights: The TCS will be flighted just like the regular season (A, B, & R flights) except a player will stay in the flight in which he started the tournament regardless what his points change to for subsequent weeks.  The A and B flights will be determined by sorting all players in the field (except for red tee players) by their points needed and then splitting them in half: top half = A flight; bottom half = B flight.

Anyone qualified may play in as many of the weeks as they want - there will be no entry fee other than the weekly fee of $12. This fee includes the weekly contest, closest to the pins, and the TCS entry. Anyone who is eligible and plays in the first week is guaranteed a spot in the remaining weeks. Anyone who does not play in the first week can play in the remaining weeks if places are available - prioritized by number of rounds played during the year.

Rain Policy: If the whole flight (A, B, or R) has completed at least 14 holes the round will be considered complete and will be scored based on the holes everyone has completed using our usual prorated system for rain.  If we are rained out before everyone in a flight has completed 14 holes the entire round for that flight  will be replayed the following week and no prize money or points will be awarded. Closest to the pins will be awarded as they stand when play is stopped as long as the whole field  has completed the hole.  Any hole in one made prior to the round being called will be honored.

Playing groups: For the first week groupings will be from least to most Timbercup points earned YTD by flight.  For weeks 2 and 3 the groupings will be by flight from least to most TCS points earned in prior weeks.

All of our regular weekly local rules will apply as usual. Breach of any of these rules will result in zero (0) points for the hole on which the breach occurred.

Prize money will ultimately be determined by how many players are in each flight.  Each flight winner will also receive a trophy.

Payout for TCS per flight (projected based on 12 players in the flight, if there are fewer players in the flight the payout will be reduced):

1st = $70 + trophy; 2nd = $60; 3rd = $50; 4th = $40; 5th = $30

     There will also be weekly prize money for each flight again based on # of players in the flight.  In addition there will be the regular closest to the pin competition.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Timberlake Champion Golfer of the year:

Timbercup Points earned during the TCS will also accumulate towards the year long Timberlake Champion Golfer of the Year points (Timbercup points). The Timbercup points earned will be added to everyone's Timbercup points that they had earned prior to the TCS. The player with the most Timbercup points after the TCS will be the  Timberlake Champion Golfer of the Year and receive the Timbercup trophy

Assignment of Timbercup Points during the TCS (Not to be confused with TCS points)

In addition to the usual Timbercup points assigned each week additional bonus points will be awarded as follows:  Flight winner 70 pts, 2nd place 50 pts, 3rd place 40 pts, 4th place 30 pts,  5th place 20 pts and 6th place 10 pts. These points will accumulate only towards the Timberlake Champion golfer of the year award (The Timbercup Trophy) and are separate from the TCS points.

Should the Timbercup points be tied - 18 hole tie breaker the following week.

After each week the TCS points and Timbercup points will be posted so you can determine your position in each.
